Brazil's Cemig opens new wind, solar tender

Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG4), better known as Cemig, announced recently a new tender to contract or buy wind and solar capacity.

Companies have until October 3, 2022, to register in order to participate in the tender. Winners will be announced on October 25, 2022.

Cemig will buy the project or award power purchase agreements (PPA) with power supply starting on January 1, 2026, for terms of 10 or 15 years for both sources. The company is targeting projects under the incentivised energy model, meaning with injected power equal to or less than 300,000 kW.

Interested parties have to meet certain conditions to take part in the bidding process, including having an installed capacity in Brazil of at least 1 GW.

All the details about the tender can be found on Cemig's website in Portuguese.
