Alstom wins 15-year Indian rail contract

French engineer Alstom has signed a €387m contract with Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation to supply 156 Movia trains and 15 years of maintenance for the Bhopal and Indore metros.
Alstom’s scope of work includes the installation of signalling, control and telecoms systems. It will also be responsible for supplying the rolling stock. There will be 27 three-car trains on the 31km Bhopal line, which will have 30 stations. At Indore, some 25 trains will stop at 29 stations on a 32km line.
Olivier Loison, Alstom India’s managing director, said: “As India moves towards its vision of using green and clean energy for public mobility, Alstom takes pride in being its long-standing partner in this journey, and helping to write the country’s growth story.
“Following the Agra-Kanpur metro project, winning this contract is a strong validation of our commitment to deliver mobility solutions that meet the specific requirements of our customers.”
