The government of New South Wales has awarded an AUD1.35 billion (US$917 million) concession contract for Coffs Harbour Bypass in Australia to joint venture (JV) of Gamuda Australia (50%) and Ferrovial Construction (50%).  

The JV will be responsible for the design and construction of:

• 14km of new and upgraded four-lane divided highway bypassing the Coffs Harbour CBD and urban area;
• Three tunnels (approximately 1km in total) through prominent ridges along the alignment;
• A new bus interchange and pedestrian footbridge servicing a local primary school;
• Three grade-separated interchanges;
• Upgrade of the existing Pacific Highway between Korora Hill and the dual carriageway highway at Sapphire;
• Local access and service roads adjacent to sections of the new highway providing connections for local residents and businesses.

The M1 Pacific Highway's Coffs Harbour Bypass, which runs from Hexham to the Queensland border, is the last stretch to be converted to a divided four-lane highway. The Bypass will open to traffic in late 2026, while design work will start immediately. The project is expected to be finalized in late 2027.
