HOK-Turner JV to build New York public health lab
9 May 2022
An all American joint venture between Gilbane Building Company, Turner Construction Company and design firm HOK will design and build a $750m public health laboratory at the Harriman State Office Campus Complex in Albany, New York.
The Wadsworth Laboratory will consolidate offices currently spread across several facilities and bolster New York state’s response to public health crises. The lab was created in 1901 to treat communicable diseases and was used to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. John LaRow, Gilbane Building’s senior vice president, said: “We look forward to working with our team of building and design experts and partnering with the Hochul administration to deliver the state-of-the-art public health facility that New York deserves.” Carl Stewart III, Turner Construction’s vice president, said: “It is an honour to partner with the State of New York as well as Gilbane, HOK, and the trade partners on this world-class facility that will help protect and improve the health of the people of New York. “It is so incredibly rewarding to collaborate on a project enhancing New York’s capabilities to efficiently and effectively prepare for and respond to public health matters.”
