EIB concluded EUR 580 million financing for Athens Line 4

Attiko Metro and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have concluded on a EUR 580 million funding for the construction of Alsos Veikou – Goudi metro section which is the first one on the future Athens Metro Line 4.
This agreement represents both the largest EIB support for a new transport project in the country and for a single project in Greece.
This is the second part of the EUR 730 million total in financing being provided by the EIB for the project.
The 30-year loan will be used for the construction of Alsos Veikou – Goudi line (Section A) which will have a length of 12.8 km with 15 stations of which 9 are interchange stations. The project includes the connecting tunnel of Line 4 with Lines 2 and 3, as well as the access tunnel to the train stabling and maintenance yard at Katehaki.
EUR 1.5 billion is the value of the project which is expected to be completed in approximately 8 years.
