ACCIONA launches ESG criteria training scheme for suppliers in its value chain
11 February 2022
ACCIONA, together with the non-profit organization B Lab Spain, has launched the "Measure What Matters" training program to support the small and medium-sized enterprises in its supply chain in making decisions related to the measurement of their environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) impact.
The training scheme will first be offered to 140 suppliers (mainly SMEs that have been working with ACCIONA for several years and are aligned with its sustainability values) and will then be gradually extended to the rest of the firm’s value chain.
At the end of the training, participating companies will have an objective model to evaluate their ESG performance and a roadmap for improvement.
Furthermore, ACCIONA offers participants a series of incentives for completing the program, ranging from upgraded qualifications for access to tenders to the inclusion of trained suppliers in the "Preferred Bidders List".
The training program consists of five theoretical and practical workshops that will take place in February and March, where five specific areas of impact will be assessed: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Companies will also respond individually to the B Impact Assessment Questionnaire, designed to identify strengths and areas for improvement in sustainability.
The non-profit organization B Lab is the promoter of the B Corp movement, considered the most prestigious global standard for evaluating and recognizing the work of companies with a positive impact on the planet and society.
This initiative is part of the new Suppliers Strategy developed in ACCIONA's 2025 Sustainability Master Plan, which seeks to mitigate environmental, social and corporate governance risks in its supply chain.
