Agreement for construction of China-Aid Annex Office Building, Ghana
18 April 2021
The governments of Ghana and China have assigned an Implementation Agreement of the China-Aid Annex Office Building Project for the West African country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The agreement was signed in Accra, the capital of Ghana, by Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Mr. Lu Kun, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana representing the governments of the Republic of Ghana and that of the People’s Republic of China respectively.
This comes following the conclusion of negotiations regarding the project, which began about three years ago according to Madam Botchwey. She said that both parties had agreed and signed the Minutes of Meetings for the on-site feasibility study back in June 2019 as well as the Letter of Exchange of Note with the Ministry of Finance for the project in June last year.
“Today we are signing the Implementation Agreement for the commencement of the China-Aid Annex Office Building Project, as the next step in this collaborative effort,” explained the Ghanaian minister.
Project overview
The China-Aid Annex Office Building Project will be funded by the East Asian country’s Government under the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two nations.
Basically, the Project is a Six-Storey building and it will be situated at the south of the existing office building. It will include ultra-modern office space for the Minister, the Chief Director, other Directors, and Officers, and will host a Conference Room, Press Room, Banquet Hall, Gym, Clinic, Flag Holding room, and underground Parking Lot.
Madam Botchwey lauded the warm and cordial relations Ghana has enjoyed with China and the support that the Asian country continued to make towards Ghana’s socio-economic development.
