Vinci wins €70m bridge replacement contract in New South Wales

Seymour Whyte, a Vinci Construction subsidiary based in Australia, will build a new 349-metre-long bridge on the Kings Highway over the Clyde River in New South Wales (NSW).

The contract, worth €70m involves demolishing the existing bridge at Nelligen, built in 1964, and abutment works. The project also covers an improved approach to the bridge, wider lanes and shoulders, safety barriers, and landscaping works on the riverbank.

It follows Seymour Whyte advising client Transport for NSW on design improvements, constructability and environmental issues.

The company will consult with the local aquaculture industry and introduce control measures for erosion, sediment, biodiversity, and translocation of seagrasses.

Transport for NSW said the new bridge, to be located upstream of the old one, is expected to open by late 2023.
