France's Alstom gets 100 mln euro contract to supply underground trains to Bucharest

BUCHAREST (Romania), November 3 (SeeNews) – French multinational rolling stock manufacturer Alstom said on Tuesday that it was awarded a 100 million euro ($117 million) contract to supply 13 Metropolis trains to Bucharest underground system operator Metrorex.
The contract has an option for a further 17 trains and its total estimated value could go up to 240 million euro, Alstom said in a press release.
This is Alstom's first rolling stock contract in Romania.
The first train will be delivered in less than 29 months.
Each of the six-car trains will have 216 seats and a total capacity of 1,200 passengers.
Alstom’s Metropolis range of metro trains has been in operation for over 20 years worldwide.
