30 October 2020
The winning consortium for Bogotá’s $4.3bn metro line will open tendering for building materials and civil works in March 2021.
It was announced in October 2019 that a consortium made up of China Harbour Engineering and Xi’an Metro had won the contest to build the line.
The main suppliers will provide products and services during all three phases of the project: permanent works, distribution of construction machinery and consumable supplies.

When operational in 2025, the 24km line will be capable of transporting 72,000 passengers an hour in each direction.
Work on the project will be delayed by at least six months due to coronavirus restrictions.
Juan Gabriel Perez, Invest in Bogotá’s executive director, said: “Currently, Bogotá has one of the most attractive pipelines in infrastructure in Latin America.
“This makes the city an attractive destination for foreign companies of this Industry. But also, for local companies which will find opportunities to be providers for major projects such as Bogotá’s metro.”
