Border Basin Solar project is a 152MWdc (120MWac) utility-scale solar project.
Energix US has commissioned the Border Basin Solar project, a 152MW- direct current (MWdc) (120MW- alternating current (MWac)) utility-scale facility in Ohio, US, to supply electricity to the PJM Interconnection market.
Located in Hancock County, the project uses the PowerTrack platform provided by Stem, a company specialising in AI-enabled clean energy software.
Stem contributed to the development of Border Basin through all stages, including design, assembly, configuration, factory testing, onsite commissioning, utility witness testing, and remote support.
This involvement was aimed at enabling the facility to begin operations with monitoring capabilities established from the outset.
The PowerTrack platform at Border Basin provides plant control, data acquisition, and ongoing monitoring.
Stem’s responsibilities for the project encompassed integrating with the PJMnet, providing power plant controls, installing SCADA systems, communications and networking hardware, meteorological stations, and delivering its cloud-based PowerTrack software.
The platform offers features in monitoring, analytics, alert notifications, performance reporting, and remote data backup.
Stem software president Matt Tappin said: “For utility-scale developers like Energix, bringing a project online is only part of the equation. Long-term success depends on reliable operations, clear visibility into asset performance, and the right technical support.
“We’re proud to support Energix as they continue to expand their solar portfolio and focus on maximising the performance and long-term value of their assets.”
Border Basin’s commissioning marks a milestone for Energix US, as the company’s portfolio in the PJM market now exceeds 1GW.
Energix US’ parent company Energix Renewables country manager and chief operating officer Zvi Tvizer said: “Border Basin is an important milestone for Energix as we surpass 1GW in our US portfolio in the PJM market.
“Stem’s PowerTrack platform gives our operations team the real-time visibility and performance insight we need to maximise production and ensure reliable, long-term operation of the facility.”
Stem specialises in offering software and related services for the energy sector, supporting clients with the management and optimisation of clean energy assets. Its PowerTrack platform is used for asset monitoring and operational analytics.
