Major accessibility milestone at 161st Street–Yankee Stadium station

Itinera and the ASTM Group, through its U.S. subsidiaries Halmar Infrastructure Developmentv and Halmar International, is one of the key players in the modernization and accessibility program promoted by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City.
The new entrance to the station at Yankee Stadium—the iconic American baseball stadium that, with 50,000 seats, is home to the New York Yankees—has recently opened. The 161st Street–Yankee Stadium station stands out for its strategic importance: located in the Bronx and serving the 4, B, and D lines, it is one of the main access points to Yankee Stadium, a daily hub for thousands of commuters, fans, and visitors. The project therefore required particularly careful planning, aimed at ensuring service continuity and minimizing disruption during high-attendance events.

The ADA 13 Stations initiative, which is structured as a public-private partnership (P3) project, provides for improvements at 13 subway stations to enhance accessibility through the installation of 34 new vertical transportation systems and associated circulation routes that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The project is part of a broader $5.2 billion plan led by the MTA to upgrade New York City’s subway stations.

Since 2025, vertical transportation systems have been in operation at 6 of the 13 subway stations covered by the contract and built by Halmar International.
