ENNA Geo completes acquisition of geothermal assets of IGeoPen in Croatia

Enna Geo, a subsidiary of the Energia Naturalis (ENNA Group), has announced the completion of acquisition of IGeoPen d.o.o., thus taking full ownership of three geothermal exploration areas in Croatia, namely Ernestinovo, Sjece, and Pcelic. This follows the announcement made by UK-based Star Energy Group to sell its Croatian geothermal assets, citing the lack of a premium price tariff for geothermal projects in Croatia.

With this acquisition, Enna Geo further strengthens its portfolio of geothermal projects. The company is already developing two high-potential geothermal sites in Zagocha and Babina Greda with target operational dates of 2030 and 2032, respectively.

“This is more than a business expansion. It demonstrates our long-term belief in geothermal energy as one of the most reliable renewable energy sources available today. Our ambition is clear: to help build a cleaner, more resilient and more energy-independent future for Croatia,” saidIvana Meašic, the Director of Enna Geo.

The geothermal potential in Croatia is exceptionally good, yet remains largely undeveloped. In 2025, Enna Geo measured a maximum temperature of 211 °Cat well drilledto 4582 meters depth at the Zagocha site. Similarly, a geothermal well drilled to 4083 meters depth at the Babina Greda site tapped into thermal waters at 180 ºC. The lack of a premium price tariff and the delay on a tender for geothermal power supply have been cited as reasons for the standstill of the progress of the geothermal industry in Croatia.
