Nordex wins order for 40 turbines for German wind farms
11 March 2026
Nordex Group has secured an order from wpd, a global developer and operator of wind and solar farms, for 40 wind turbines across nine projects in Germany, totalling around 279.2MW of capacity.
This order calls for the installation of 36 N163/6.X turbines and four N175/6.X turbines.
The turbines will be installed at wind farms in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Lower Saxony.
Each order includes a “premium service” contract for turbine maintenance over a 15-year period.
The turbines are set to be installed on hybrid towers. The N163 models feature a hub height of 164m, while the N175 models will reach a height of 179m.
The turbines are due to be delivered and installed in 2027, after which they will primarily operate in 7MW mode.
Nordex Group region central vice-president Karsten Brüggemann said: “wpd’s decision to select our technology again – this time including the N175/6.X turbines – after their significant order of nearly 126MW in September 2025, is a strong endorsement of both our team’s capabilities and our technological competence.
“We are very pleased to continue our successful partnership, which has grown over many years.”
wpd, established in 1996, has operations in 32 countries. The company is involved in planning, financing, constructing and managing wind farms and solar parks.
Nordex Group, meanwhile, has commissioned more than 64GW of wind power capacity in over 40 countries, with consolidated sales of around €7.6bn ($8.8bn) in 2025.
The company employs more than 11,100 people and has a manufacturing network with facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India and the US.
In January 2026, Nordex secured new orders for wind turbines with a total capacity of 508MW, its first order for N175/6.X turbines in Canada.
The orders, from unnamed clients, involve supplying and installing 73 turbines between 2027 and 2028, each accompanied by long-term servicing agreements.
