Argentina tenders 700 MW of battery storage nationwide
4 March 2026
Argentina’s Energy Secretariat has launched a competitive tender to procure 700 MW of BESS at strategic nodes across the country, excluding the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area. The program is designed to strengthen grid reliability and reduce outages during peak demand.
The initiative covers the Northwest, Northeast, Central, Litoral and Cuyo regions, as well as the province of Buenos Aires outside the capital region.
It will be administered by Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico (CAMMESA), the operator of Argentina’s wholesale electricity market.
The government estimates total investment of about $700 million.
