The transaction includes operating wind farms and a substantial development pipeline of wind and solar projects in France.

Iberdrola has finalised the sale of its French onshore renewable energy portfolio to Technique Solaire, a France-based renewable energy company.

The deal transfers 118MW of operating wind assets and a further development pipeline comprising 639MW of onshore wind and solar photovoltaic projects.

This transaction aligns with Iberdrola Group’s strategy to concentrate investment on core areas, particularly regulated networks or long-term contracted generation, and to focus on markets such as the US and the UK.

Technique Solaire now has full ownership of Iberdrola Renouvelables France, marking its first entry into the French onshore wind sector.

The acquisition also expands Technique Solaire’s portfolio, which already includes solar and battery energy storage systems, to cover a broader range of renewable technologies.

As part of the agreement, 21 employees from Iberdrola’s French business will join Technique Solaire, adding technical and operational expertise.

This is Iberdrola’s fifth significant transaction in 2024, following asset sales in Spain and Hungary and the addition of solar capacity to a joint venture with Norges.

Technique Solaire Development co-founder and managing director Thomas de Moussac said: “Entering the wind sector is a strategic milestone for Technique Solaire. After our successes in solar and biogas, this transaction gives us immediate access to a significant operational portfolio, with repowering potential and a robust development pipeline.”

Iberdrola Internacional manages operations outside Spain and the UK for the wider group, focusing on compliance with national electricity market regulations across multiple regions.

The transfer supports both companies’ strategic objectives. Iberdrola continues to realign its asset base according to its global priorities, while Technique Solaire is strengthening its position in renewables through diversification into wind power alongside existing solar activities.

In January, Iberdrola’s Brazilian subsidiary, Neoenergia, completed the energisation of the final segment of the Alto Paranaíba project, bringing one of Brazil’s major electricity transmission projects to completion ahead of the planned timeline.
