Webuild hits the road in Virginia
8 February 2026
Italy’s Webuild has won a $389m contract through its US subsidiary Lane Construction to widen the Interstate 64 in Virginia.
Working on behalf of the Virginia Department of Transportation, Lane Construction will work across 11km of the I-64 Hampton Roads Express Lanes corridor, including converting the existing three lanes into one part-time, high-occupancy express shoulder lane and three general purpose lanes in each direction.
The team will also widen and rehabilitate nineteen existing bridges along the route.
Work is taking place to improve safety, reduce travel times and ensure smoother traffic flow.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by 2029.
