19 September 2025
Skanska has won three US contracts worth a total of $256m: a $116m job at the University of Virginia, a $73m signing at Longwood University and $67m contract in New York City.
At the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Skanska will build the Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology at Fontaine Research Park.
The five-story, 33,000-sq-m development will have modular multi-use laboratory space, research facilities and an area for staff and students to work with science and technology companies.
Construction is due to be completed in 2027.
In Farmville, Virginia, Skanska has signed a $73m deal with Longwood University to demolish the existing Bristow building and construct a 6,000-sq-m facility, which will contain music teaching spaces, rehearsal areas, offices and a 500-seat concert hall.
Construction began last month and will be completed in April 2028.
Skanska previously completed the Joan Perry Brock Centre at Longwood University.
On New York City’s Governors Island (pictured), the company will provide preconstruction and construction services for a new 27kV enclosed substation.
The facility will serve a new school and a planned research and education consortium called the New York Climate Exchange.
The project is due to be completed in 2027.
