Envision Energy secures 1GW wind turbine order from Juniper
13 January 2025
Envision Energy India has secured an order from Juniper Green Energy for the supply of 200 EN 182 5MW wind turbine generators (WTGs) and its maiden 320MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS).
The WTGs will be deployed for various projects under state and central auctions, while the BESS package will be utilised for the Firm Dispatchable Renewable Energy project.
The 5MW turbine platform has a track record of proven performance across the MENA region, South East Asia and China.
It will feature a 182m rotor diameter and a hub height of 140m, making them ideal for wind and site conditions in India.
Key features include enhanced annual energy output by more than 40% compared with the current 3.3MW platform and the lowest levelised cost of energy.
Envision Energy India MD RPV Prasad said: “It is a proud moment for us to take our business relationship with Juniper a step further through these deals for wind turbines and battery storage.
“This maiden energy storage supply to Juniper opens a new market for Envision Energy India and further strengthens our resolve to support industrial decarbonisation efforts of our customers. With a customer-first approach, laser focus on quality and safety, we strive to deliver optimal energy solutions to our customers.”
Envision’s energy storage solution includes a 5MWh 20ft containerised storage unit powered by high-safety, high-performance lithium-ion 315Ah cells.
This will be integrated through an AI of Things (AIoT)-based energy management system with a 3.45 MW PCS unit.
Each component is designed and manufactured by Envision in compliance with global standards, with comprehensive life cycle operation and maintenance services provided.
Juniper Green Energy will benefit from the reduced challenges of acquiring rights of way due to the fewer land parcels required.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Envision Energy India in advancing renewable energy projects across the country.
Juniper Green Energy CEO Naresh Mansukhani said: “These two landmark agreements with Envision Energy India represent a significant advancement in our strategic partnership, building upon the successful 300MW order for EN156/3.3 WTGs earlier this year.
“Together, we are poised to achieve our ambitious goal of establishing 10GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, solidifying our leadership position within the burgeoning green energy sector. We are confident that this collaboration will significantly accelerate our contributions to India’s energy transition and its sustainability objectives.”
