CAMCE Kazakhstan Soda Plant Project Won Two International Financing Awards
25 December 2024On November 20th, Global Banking & Markets (GBM) held its 2024 awards ceremony in Istanbul. The Kazakh soda ash plant project, which was contracted by CAMCE, won the "Corporate Syndicated Loan Deal of the Year" and "Export Finance Deal of the Year" awards at the ceremony. These achievements mark the international recognition in terms of financing innovation and market influence of the project.
Kazakhstan's 500,000 ton soda ash plant is the largest soda ash plant project in Central Asia. The owner is a Turkish company. It is a model of third-party cooperation and investment in Central Asia. The financing of the project faced many severe challenges, such as multi-party interweaving, multi-country financial systems, differences in laws and regulations among multiple countries, and complex special requirements of the local market in Kazakhstan. In the extremely complex financing context, multiple financing institutions have risen to the challenge. CAMCE has partnered with China Export Credit Insurance Corporation to establish an international consortium led by ING Bank and Bank of China in the medium to long term export buyer's credit financing structure. At the same time, parallel loans have been provided by Kazakhstan Development Bank and People's Savings Bank, successfully breaking through the financing bottleneck.
The successful financing and award of this project also strongly demonstrate CAMCE's professional capabilities in the field of international project financing, demonstrating the outstanding strength of CAMCE in financing planning, resource integration, and risk management. It has a positive significance in attracting high-quality resources and promoting the sustained and stable development of the enterprise.
