Envision Energy signs its largest single wind contract in Philippines
20 December 2024Envision Energy has signed an agreement to supply 344.5MW wind turbines for the Quezon North Wind project, setting a record as the largest single wind power contract in the Philippines.
Awarded by ACEN, the renewable energy platform of the Ayala Group, the agreement marks a significant step in the country’s renewable energy sector.
The Quezon North Wind project will be the largest onshore wind initiative in the Philippines.
The partnership is the second collaboration between Envision and ACEN, following the 600MW Monsoon Wind project in Lao PDR, which will export electricity to Vietnam – Southeast Asia’s first cross-border wind project.
Envision Energy’s agreement includes comprehensive lifecycle services such as the design, engineering, manufacturing and delivery of wind turbine generators with 150m towers.
The project aims to optimise energy generation tailored to the unique wind conditions of the province of Quezon, integrating advanced solutions for high performance and reliability.
The initiative will significantly enhance the Philippines’ renewable energy capacity, aligning with the country’s energy transition and sustainability goals.
Envision Energy’s state-of-the-art turbines will play a crucial role in pioneering sustainable energy solutions, accelerating the adoption of renewable energy in the region.
Envision Energy’s investment in intelligent control systems and data analytics will further enhance the operational efficiency of the Quezon North Wind power project.
This aligns with the Philippines’ broader mission to transition to a green economy, showcasing Envision’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Envision Energy senior vice-president and president of international product lines Kane Xu stated: “We are excited about the opportunities this project presents. Envision’s cutting-edge high-tower turbine technology and intelligent control systems are specifically engineered to optimise performance under local wind conditions, significantly enhancing wind energy capture and boosting generation efficiency.
“This initiative will greatly increase the Philippines’ renewable energy capacity and support the country’s shift toward a green economy. It also underscores our mutual commitment to advancing renewable energy and fostering sustainable development across Southeast Asia.”
Envision Energy has also secured an order to supply three battery energy storage systems for South Africa’s Oasis 1 cluster of projects, totalling 257MW of capacity and 1,028 megawatt hours (MWh) of storage.
This marks the largest battery energy storage order in South Africa and positions Envision as the first energy storage system supplier in the region to secure a gigawatt-scale order.
