Serbia to build 800 MW agri-solar power plant in Vojvodina with €340 million investment
13 December 2024
An 800 MW agri-solar power plant is set to be constructed in the municipality of Kula, located in Serbia’s northern province of Vojvodina. The project will be developed by the local company Agrosolar, as outlined in the detailed regulation plan published for public review.
The plant will cover an area of 714 hectares in the Kula municipality, with a total capacity of approximately 800 MW. The exact output of individual solar panels will be determined during the technical development phase, depending on the project’s implementation dynamics and the types of solar panels selected for each site. The stated capacity is a technical guideline, and advancements in technology and increased panel efficiency could lead to modifications without affecting the phased implementation or overall completion of the project.
The land designated for the solar plant is mainly privately owned agricultural land classified as 2nd and 3rd class arable land, with existing unclassified roads providing access for agricultural machinery.
Agrosolar is a joint venture between Kula Solar and MK Green Energy Limited. MK Group previously announced that, after establishing a strong foothold in wind energy production through its partnership with Fintel Energija, it launched the Agrosolar Kula project. With an investment of 340 million euros, this marks the first agri-solar initiative in the Balkans and the largest in Europe.
The construction of the facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
