Bulgaria: Nineteen international companies bid for LNG supply to Bulgaria for January-February 2025
13 November 2024
Nineteen international companies have expressed interest in participating in a tender launched by the Bulgarian public gas supplier Bulgargaz for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for January and February 2025. The LNG will be delivered through the Greek Alexandroupoli terminal.
All the companies that applied have met the criteria set by Bulgargaz and have been approved to move forward to the next stage of the tender process—submitting binding offers. By mid-November, it will be clear which companies have submitted the most competitive bids.
In late August, Bulgargaz announced three separate tenders for the supply of a total of 5,000,000 MWh of LNG within its reserved capacity at the Alexandroupoli terminal. In the first tender, for the month of October, 10 international companies expressed interest. For the subsequent tender covering November and December, a total of 13 companies participated.
Bulgargaz anticipates that the increased competition will help secure more favorable pricing for its customers during the winter months.
