Song Hailiang Meets with Kazakh Energy Minister

CEEC Chairman Song Hailiang on August 29 held talks with Almasadam Sätqaliev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan at the group’s headquarters in Beijing. They had in-depth discussions on deepening practical cooperation in traditional energy upgrades, and new energy development, among others.

Song welcomed the visit of Sätqaliev and the delegation he led to CEEC, which was their first stop in China. He expressed gratitude for the long-standing and strong support the Kazakhstan government has shown to CEEC.

He emphasized that CEEC is an innovation-driven enterprise focusing on technology, energy, infrastructure and integrated development that offers comprehensive solutions for various industries such as energy, power, and infrastructure in China and worldwide.

The group has always considered Kazakhstan as a crucial strategic market and has engaged in extensive and in-depth cooperation with the country in energy, power, infrastructure, water conservancy, and building materials, Song noted.

He said CEEC is committed to following the principle of giving full play to its advantages to achieve win-win cooperation based on Kazakhstan’s needs as well as on shared consensus, and leverages its expertise in planning, consulting, and design as a national think tank, offering whole industry chain integration solutions, and global leading technology.

Song expressed CEEC’s willingness to deepen cooperation in new energy development, upgrading traditional energy sources, gas power generation, and high-voltage direct current grids, and provide systematic solutions and dedicated services to support Kazakhstan's green energy transformation, while also creating exemplary projects and benchmark engineering collaborations.

For Sätqaliev’s part, he first expressed his gratitude to CEEC for its valuable contributions to the economic and social development of Kazakhstan. He then emphasized that as the collaboration between Kazakhstan and China within the Belt and Road Initiative, their economic and trade cooperation has yielded remarkable outcomes.

Noting that CEEC, being a leading multinational group in energy, power, and infrastructure, possesses exceptional expertise and comprehensive capabilities, making it a reliable partner, the minister said he hopes CEEC will leverage its professional technology and comprehensive advantages, increase investments in Kazakhstan, foster innovative business models, and actively participate in energy, power, and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan will support the continued growth of CEEC and other Chinese companies in the energy sector in Kazakhstan, expediting the implementation of cooperative ventures, he said.

Prior to the talks, Sätqaliev, accompanied by Song, visited the exhibition hall of CEEC.

The meeting was joined by Minister Counselor Kuanysh Amantay and Counselor Ussenov Bolatof the Kazakh embassy in China, and heads of National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna", Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company, and KazMunayGas from Kazakhstan, CEEC Chief Accountant Li Lina, as well as heads of relevant departments from both sides.
