CNNC, Uzatom sign a MOU and cooperation roadmap in Beijing
20 August 2024Shen Yanfeng, general-manager of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), held a meeting with Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, head of Uzbekistan's Nuclear Development Agency (Uzatom), in Beijing on the night of August 7.
They exchanged views on bilateral nuclear energy cooperation and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) as well as a cooperation roadmap, marking a significant step forward taken by the two countries in further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.
Shen welcomed the visit of Akhmedkhadjaev and his delegation and gave an introduction to the building and operation of the CNNC's nuclear power units. China and Uzbekistan have forged high-level partnership and there is a broader space for the cooperation between enterprises from the two countries, he said and asked the two sides to deepen their bilateral cooperation in the sectors of nuclear power, nuclear medicine and uranium resources and work together for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the building of a community with a shared future for the two nations.
Akhmedkhadjaev said that the signing of the MOU and cooperation roadmap has laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation ahead. He also praised the experience and practices made by the CNNC in the building and management of nuclear power plants and looked forward to further deepening their cooperation in the development and utilization of nuclear power and technologies and enriching the content of the China-Uzbekistan all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.
