Neom tenders Oxagon village residential work
12 August 2024
Neom has issued a tender inviting companies to bid for the first phase of the residential village package for the industrial city of Oxagon.
The tender was issued on 7 July and the deadline for bid submission is 19 September.
The Oxagon residential village will be built on an area of 1.5 square kilometres.
It will comprise 60 residential buildings with around 8,500 apartments catering to 17,000 residents. The development will also include schools, hospitals, offices, sports facilities, hotels and restaurants.
The project will be delivered using modular construction methods with pre-fabricated modules assembled on-site.
The first residential precincts are expected to be completed and ready for residents by the end of Q1 2026.
In March, MEED reported that Oxagon was close to completing the advanced design works for the residential village. The tender for the construction of the project's first phase is expected in Q3 this year.
"The project will be developed in four phases. The project's first phase will likely be awarded by the end of this year," sources close to the project tell MEED.
Oxagon Village is the core residential component of the Oxagon masterplan. The project will be built offshore next to the new port and logistics centre, and will have residential units ranging from studio to five-bedroom apartments.
US-based design, architecture and engineering firm HOK is undertaking the design works.
Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman launched Oxagon in late 2021. It will include onshore elements as well as floating structures offshore. Construction works on the 48 square-kilometre, eight-sided industrial city have already started.
