Saudi Arabia plans 92,000-seat stadium complex in Riyadh

Plans have been announced for a 92,000-capacity stadium on a on a 660,000 sq m site in Riyadh. As well as the ordinary spectators, the ground will have a 150-seat royal suite, 120 hospitality suites, 300 VIP seats and 2,200 other places for dignitaries.
The King Salman Stadium will be the home ground for Saudi Arabia’s football team, and will be located on King Salman Road next to King Abdulaziz Park, close to King Khalid International Airport.
The project was announced by the royal commission for Riyadh city and the ministry of sport.
Other sports facilities on site will include a 9km running track, training fields, a closed sports hall, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, athletics track and outdoor courts for volleyball and basketball. There will also be indoor screens and gardens, as well as a rooftop walking track.
The stadium plans to use sustainable cooling systems for athletes and audience.
The stadium is due to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2029, according to a press release from Saudi Arabia’s news agency.
