Bulgaria plans railway between Burgas Airport and central station
10 April 2024Bulgaria’s national rail company will build a railway in the Black Sea city of Burgas linking Burgas Airport to the city’s central railway station, with an estimated cost of €53m, the state news agency reports.
The 11km line will get travellers end to end in about 14 minutes.
The project will be co-financed by the European Commission’s €1.6bn, 2021-27 Transport Connectivity programme for Bulgaria, set up in October 2022.
Construction on the line is due to begin before 2025 and be completed in three to four years. Burgas mayor Dimitar Nikolov said the railway could be extended to the Black Sea resort, Sunny Beach
