The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has reported that Three companies presented their credentials (Envelope No. 1) to compete as “qualified interested parties” in the modernization project of the Huancayo – Huancavelica Railway in Peru.
The current Huancayo-Huancavelica Railway spans 128.7 km, featuring seven stations, 20 stops, 15 bridges, and 38 tunnels. These will undergo modernization to include updated infrastructure, new rolling stock, and signaling and control systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and comfortable transportation for users. A new repair and maintenance workshop and drainage system will also be constructed. Measures will be implemented to protect and stabilize slopes, focusing on renewing the railway superstructure.
The project, scheduled to commence in Q2 of 2024, has been assigned to PROINVERSIÓN by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC). It includes a 30-year concession to provide transportation services to the population, adhering to international quality standards, benefiting over 1.2 million residents of Junín (Huancayo) and Huancavelica.
