Webuild wins $299m Florida road contract
10 March 2024
Webuild’s US subsidiary, Lane Construction, has won a $299m contract to widen the Seminole Expressway and Florida State Road 417, a beltway that circles Orlando.
Lane Construction’s scope of work on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation includes design and build work to expand the state road from four to eight lanes along a 10km stretch from the Orange County border up to north of State Road 434.
The road can be used for evacuation purposes during emergencies and will ease traffic for passengers and goods, while increasing road safety.
Construction is due to begin in autumn 2024 and be complete by spring 2029.
Lane has recently won three other contracts in Florida, on Orange County interchanges, the Westshore Interchange in Tampa, and the Interstate 4.
Webuild notes that its presence in the US is third largest in terms of revenue following Italy and Australia.
