Turner team begins work on $2.1bn Nashville football stadium

Construction has begun in Nashvillle on a home stadium for American football team the Tennessee Titans.
The $2.1bn New Nissan Stadium will cover 1.7 million sq ft and accommodate up to 60,000 people. It will have a a circular translucent roof and 12,000 sq ft of community space.
The stadium will also host Tennessee State University football games, concerts and community events.
The construction team is made up of Aecom, Turner Construction, ICF Builders and Polk & Associates, with Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) as construction manager.
John Gromos, TBA‘s principal, said: “We are thrilled to begin construction on this monumental project. We aim to set a new standard for stadium construction, safety practices, local business development and community involvement.
“We look forward to working with the Tennessee Titans, the City of Nashville, the entire design team, and our trade partners to deliver a world-class facility for our community.”
Construction of the stadium is due be completed by 2027.
