Real estate company Matteson Capital has filed a request to increase the height of its mixed-use Legends Tower in Oklahoma 581m, which would make it the tallest building in the US.

The tower, which was designed by Californian architect AO is one of four planned for the Boardwalk at Bricktown development. They will contain apartments, shops, leisure destinations and a 480-key Dream Hotel and 350-key Hyatt hotel.

The Legends Tower would also have a viewing platform complete with bar and restaurant.

Rob Budetti, AO’s managing partner, commented: “Crafting a project of this significance is an honour, and the collaborative process with the City, Matteson Capital, Hensel Phelps and a top-notch team of engineers, consultants, and development partners has been exceptional.”

The tallest tower in the US at present is the 417m-tall One World Trade Center in New York, which opened in 2014. If it does go ahead, Legends Tower’s height in feet would be 1,907, which refers to the year that Oklahoma became America’s 46th state.
