22 January 2024
China based battery giant Gotion High-tech has stepped foot into the Thai market with its first battery product in the kingdom.
NV Gotion was jointly established by Gotion High-tech and Nuovo Plus and is located in Siam Eastern Industrial Park in Rayong Province of Thailand. Nuovo Plus is a new energy firm belonging to the Thai state-owned SET-listed oil and gas firm Public Company Limited (PTT). It primarily looks into the business of battery and battery industry chain.
The first phase of the plant’s battery pack production capacity is planned to be 2 GWh every year. There are plans to expand its yearly production capacity to 8 GWh. This, however, will be based on market demand.
The battery product, with 38 kWh battery pack, Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery, promises a driving range of up to 400 kilometers. This will help meet the mainstream demand for A-class vehicles in the Thai electric vehicle (EV) market, as per Yu Qiang, Marketing Director of NV Gotion.
The Marketing Director went on to say that the battery will be supplied to Chinese automaker Hozon Auto starting in the first quarter of 2024.
