Romania: Premier Energy acquired CEZ Vanzare from Macquarie
26 December 2023
The Romanian subsidiary of Czech gas distribution network operator and supplier Premier Energy has acquired local electricity and natural gas supplier CEZ Vanzare from Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), CEZ Vanzare said.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
“The contractual provisions between the company and their clients, employees, suppliers or partners remain the same in the context of the transaction and the change of shareholder,” CEZ Vanzare said in a press release.
Czech energy group CEZ entered Romania in 2005 with the acquisition of power distribution company Electrica Oltenia. In 2022, CEZ sold its assets in Romania to MIRA, which in turn is part of global financial services organisation Macquarie Group.
Premier Energy is owned by Czech investment fund Emma Capital and in Romania it supplies gas to retail, industrial and commercial end-users. It is also the largest distributor and supplier of electricity in Moldova, with a market share of 70%.
