HOCHTIEF to design, finance, build and operate expansion of Frankfurt judiciary center
2 December 2023
HOCHTIEF has been awarded a major PPP contract with a volume in the mid three-digit million range. On behalf of the Hessian state office for construction and real estate (LBIH), the Group will expand the new Frankfurt am Main judiciary center.
The two new buildings located on Konstablerwache square in the city center will house several courts, public prosecutors’ offices and judicial authorities. HOCHTIEF will construct the new buildings with a gross floor area of 38,500 square meters by mid-2027 and subsequently operate them for a period of 30 years.
The two new judicial buildings on Heiligkreuzgassse and Konrad-Adenauer-Straße meet highest sustainability standards. On the usable roof areas, HOCHTIEF will install large-scale photovoltaic systems. The buildings will be supplied with district heating to be fed into the rooms via modern heating and cooling floors.
HOCHTIEF CEO Juan Santamaría: “HOCHTIEF is managing the entire life cycle of the judiciary center through a PPP model. This gives us the opportunity to optimize the overall costs, hence creating value for the taxpayers.”
“For 15 years now, we have successfully realized major projects in the security segment, including judiciary centers, ministries, federal army barracks and police headquarters, within the framework of public-private partnerships. Together with our construction colleagues of HOCHTIEF Infrastructure, we completed all properties on schedule and within budget. We additionally take over operation and keep the objects in good condition,” says Sandra Arendt, responsible for the public building construction sector of HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions GmbH.
