Tender issued for Container terminal PPP project in South Africa

South Africa's Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has retendered its Request for Proposal (RFP) for the appointment of a container-handling facility operator to fund, design, develop, operate, maintain, and transfer a container terminal at the Port of Richards Bay.
The project scope includes the following:
- Preliminary designs to integrate Berth 606;
- Preliminary designs to specify the infill and surfacing needed for efficient operations of the Container Handling Facility;
- Installing cranes, gantries, or bays essential for mobile cranes or any other equipment required for the effective handling of Containers within the Facility; and
- Preliminary designs outlining the mode split of container cargo traffic between rail and road, with reasonable assumptions for container evacuation
The designated facility operator is tasked with undertaking the construction and establishment of the facility on the project site. It is the facility operator's responsibility to finalize the detailed design, manage construction, oversee delivery, install, conduct testing, and commission all the necessary plant and equipment essential for the operation and maintenance of the facility.
