Chairman of CNNC attends Russia-China business forum
26 October 2023On Oct 19th, the 5th Russia-China Energy Business Forum was held in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin sent congratulatory letters to the forum. Yu Jianfeng, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), attended the opening ceremony and had discussions with the deputy general manager of ROSATOM. During the forum, CNNC’s vice president Shen Yanfeng delivered a speech with the theme "Strengthening Cooperation Through the Nuclear Energy Industrial Chains and Promoting Green and Diverse Development of Energy Collaboration" in the session on "Deepening China-Russia Energy Cooperation and Safeguarding Global Energy Market Safety and Stability."
Nuclear energy is a traditional priority area of cooperation between China and Russia, and is an important part of China and Russia’s comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era. It received high-level attention from the leaders of both countries. Currently, the construction of key projects such as the Tianwan Unit 7/8 and Xudabao Unit 3/4 are progressing smoothly.
The Russia-China Energy Business Forum was initiated and established by President Xi Jinping and President Putin. It serves as a bilateral open and mechanism-based platform for exchanges and cooperation in the energy sector and related fields for companies, financial institutions, associations, think tanks, and research institutions from both countries. China National Nuclear Corporation is one of the five Chinese committee members.
