Turner Construction chosen for $186m New York hospital tower
25 October 2023Turner Construction has won a $186m contract to build a 96-bed patient care tower at Westchester Medical Centre in Valhalla, New York.
The wing will offer trauma care, and facilities for neuroscience, cardiology and general surgery. All patient accommodation will be private, and intensive care rooms will have natural light.

Chris Zegler, Turner Construction’s vice-president, said: “We are eager to work with members of the community and look forward to achieving goals for employing diverse and local businesses on construction of this patient care tower.
“This project will tremendously improve patient experience, and we look forward to bringing this state-of-the-art facility to life.”
Funding for the development will come from a $195m tax-exempt bond from the Westchester County Local Development Corporation.
The Patient Care Tower is due to be completed in January 2026.
Turner is a subsidiary of German contractor Hochtief, which is controlled by Spanish contractor ACS.
