Turner to Build Westchester Medical Center Patient Care Tower
10 October 2023
Turner Construction Company has secured a contract to build a $186 million Patient Care Tower on Westchester Medical Center’s Valhalla, New York campus.
Construction is set to begin at the end of 2023 and will result in the addition of 128 hospital beds to serve patients needing trauma care, neurosciences, cardiology, and general surgery. The additional beds will increase patient care capacity and enhance training for medical residents and students. The project will also boost the local economy, providing 770 construction jobs and 127 full-time jobs in the completed facility.
The five-story tower will enable the hospital to enhance care and comfort as all inpatient rooms will be private, and ICU rooms will have windows to let in natural light.
“Turner is thrilled to collaborate with Westchester Medical Center to benefit the local community,” said Chris Zegler, Vice President and General Manager of Turner Construction Company. “We are eager to work with members of the community and look forward to achieving goals for utilization of diverse and local businesses on construction of this patient care tower. This project will tremendously improve patient experience, and we look forward to bringing this state-of-the-art facility to life.”
The 162,000 square foot facility is planned to open in January 2026.
