Financial close achieved for US$2.5 billion Toll road PPP project in USA
21 August 2023
Ferrovial, through the NTE Mobility Partners consortium led by subsidiary Cintra, has completed a financing in the North Tarrant Express (NTE) toll road, in Texas, USA.
Utilizing private activity bonds (PABs), the consortium secured US$414.2 million. These funds are primarily allocated for financing the construction of specific capacity enhancements outlined in the Comprehensive Development Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Following the conclusion of this transaction, Ferrovial's subsidiaries, namely Ferrovial Construction and Webber, will take on the role of the design-build contractor, and construction will promptly commence. Improvements will start immediately upon completion of the transaction and are expected to finish in 2027.
The North Tarrant Express, a toll road, is seamlessly integrated into the managed lane network established within the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) region. This initiative significantly expanded the corridor's capacity by incorporating managed lanes across its entirety. The comprehensive NTE network now experiences more than half-a-million daily trips. This US$2.5 billion project spans over 13 miles (22 km) along Interstate Highway 820 and State Highway 121/183, playing a vital role in connecting downtown Fort Worth with Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
