Cimic Group subsidiary Pacific Partnerships will develop, manage, and operate the 300MWdc Hopeland Solar Farm in Queensland, Australia.

The solar farm will have the potential to generate enough electricity to power 100,000 average-sized homes.

It will be located 290km west of Brisbane in the Darling Downs.

Cimic said its proximity to the Western Downs substation made it “ideal for co-location of a potential 175MW/350MWh battery energy storage system”.

Pacific Partnerships Energy purchased the project from Renewable Energy Partners, a Brisbane-based renewable developer.

Juan Santamaria, Cimic’s executive chairman, said: “Queensland is a strategic focus as we expand our diversified national portfolio of energy and utilities assets and contribute to the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan for 70% of electricity consumption to be sourced from renewables by 2032 and 80% by 2035.”

Energy generation at Hopeland Solar Farm is due to begin in 2026.
