Agreement signed for maintenance of battery energy storage system in Lithuania

Enersense International Plc has entered into an agreement with Fluence Energy GmbH for the maintenance of battery energy storage system (BESS) in Lithuania, the first-ever storage system with a total capacity of 200 MW/200 MWh.
By harnessing the power of batteries, the system allows for the immediate reserve of electricity, which is crucial during isolated operations before the synchronization with continental European networks can occur. For the integration of energy generated from renewable energy sources, a battery system is used to ensure the instantaneous reserve of isolated working electricity for Lithuania until it is synchronized with continental European networks (KETs). This innovative approach demonstrates Lithuania's commitment to adopting cleaner and more sustainable energy practices.
The scheme is divided into four 50 MW/50 MWh sites in Alytus, Vilnius, Utena, and Aiauliai.
