Brazilian highway tender planned
1 August 2023
The tender process is being planned in Brazil’s Minas Gerais State for the BR-381/MG highway. The tender is being handled by the Minas Gerais State Government. The winner for the 30-year concession will be announced towards the end of 2023. The work will see an estimated US$1.98 billion being spent on the route. The concession package was approved by Brazil’s National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).
This stretch of the BR-381 connects the cities of Belo Horizonte and Governador Valadares. The project will involve widening the route and building additional lanes along a 134km stretch as well as feeder roads, pedestrian crossings, bus stops, wildlife crossings and changes to the alignment. The safety improvements the upgrade work will deliver should also help reduce the incidence of crashes and cut casualties on the route.
