8 June 2023
Skanska has signed a $423m contract with the Norwegian Road Authority (NPRA) to build a stretch of the E18 highway in Oslo.
The 2.3km, six-lane motorway will link the areas of Fornebukrysset and Strand, and will come with a cycle route and a local access road.
Construction will also involve local road, cycle and pedestrian adjustments, as well as 660m of works at the Høvik Tunnel and 440m at the Gjønnes Tunnel.
Construction will begin over the summer and be completed by 2030. It is designed to meet BREEAM Infrastructure’s Excellent certification.
The full E18 Western Corridor will connect Lysaker in Bærum and Drengsrud in Asker municipality and replace one of Norway’s most congested highways.
