USD153 million loan agreement signed for Airport PPP Project in Turkey

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has signed a EUR140 million (US$153 million) loan with Fraport TAV Antalya Yatirim, Yapim ve Isletme (FTA) for the expansion and modernization of Antalya’s Airport in Türkiye.
The capex bridge loan aims to improve cross-border connectivity between Europe, Asia, and other locations by extending the Antalya Airport. This will enhance the utilization of current runway capacity and upgrade terminal infrastructure easing transportation constraints. AIIB’s financing package is provided in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The Project comprises 3 components:
- Terminal Works: expansion of International Terminal 2, Domestic Terminal and related carparks;
- Airside Works: additional apron space and taxiways, infrastructure works for new maintenance hangar area, cargo terminal; and
- Other Works: gates, landscaping, on-site solar farm and others.
Apart from enhancing the operational efficiencies of Antalya Airport, this partnership will promote the implementation of global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards and initiatives related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
