6 April 2023
Swedish contractor Skanska has won a $111m extension to a $63m contract awarded in September 2022 by Oregon Health & Science University.
The work involves the university’s hospital in Portland, Oregon, and covers the building of wards, parking spaces and plant rooms.
The company will also construct three sky bridges to connect the new tower to the existing buildings, as well as roadway improvements and a transport hub.
Skanska’s original role was for early site and foundation work and the procurement of building elements with long lead-times.
Work on the 50,000 sq m, 14-storey expansion began in 2022 and is due to be completed in 2026.
