Ferrovial awarded two construction contracts in the United States totaling US$31 million
31 March 2023
Ferrovial, through Webber, its U.S. construction subsidiary, has been awarded two contracts in Georgia and South Carolina (United States) worth US$31.3 million (equivalent to approximately 29.4 million euros). These projects support the company’s growing presence in this region, a strategic market for the company.
Webber will expand the ramp and roadway at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in South Carolina, its first project in the state. The project, worth $16.5 million (equivalent to approximately 15.5 million euros), will increase the capacity of the cargo area used by the companies that operate regularly at the airport. The work also includes excavation, concrete paving and upgrading of the stormwater system. The project is Webber’s first in South Carolina and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
Webber will also undertake the rehabilitation of the I-75 highway, located in Peach County. The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded Webber this project, worth US$14.8 million (equivalent to about 13.9 million euros). Under the contract, the subsidiary will rehabilitate 16.9 kilometers of concrete on Interstate 75, beginning north of SR 96 and extending south of Sardis Church Road. The improvements involve the removal and replacement of nearly 21,000 square meters of concrete pavement.
With these two contracts, Webber is working on civil works projects in Texas, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Ferrovial Construction’s U.S. subsidiary was recently awarded a contract worth more than 278 million euros to widen a highway in North Carolina and another 118-million-euro contract to widen SH 36 in Texas. It also participates, together with Ferrovial Construction, in the I-35 project in San Antonio, worth 1,273 million euros.
