Section of Malaysian North-South Expressway upgrade work planned
15 March 2023
A section of Malaysia’s important North-South Expressway is to benefit from major improvement works. The upgrade will be targeted at the Johor section of the route.
At present the section between Peng Utara and Senai Utara has just two lanes in either direction but the improvement works will see this stretch being widened so that it benefits from three lanes in either direction. The work is expected to cost US$118.5 million and will help cut congestion by boosting capacity. The work forms part of the 12th Malaysia Plan.
In addition, work is also due to be carried out for the 195km expressway route linking Ayer Keroh, Melaka, Johor Bahru and Johor.
