Iraq plans to invest in Akkas and Mansouriya gas fields
6 February 2023
The Iraqi government intends to invest in Akkas and Mansouriya gas fields, as well as establish projects in associated gas, oil ministry’s spokesman Assem Jihad told state-owned Iraqi News Agency (INA).
“Iraq is determined to invest in gas and stop burning it throughout the country,” he said, adding the gas fields were damaged by ISIS.
The ministry has also agreed with Chinese and other companies to develop the crutch gas field in Anbar Province.
Iraq is working on clean energy with several projects across the country, Jihad noted.
In December 2022, Iraq was planning to invest in gas and completely stop flaring within four years, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani had said.
