CIMIC's Leighton Asia wins A$161m highway expansion project in Philippines

CIMIC Group company Leighton Asia has been selected by the NLEX Corporation to design and construct the third bridge of the Candaba Viaduct in the north of Manila, Philippines.
The contract will generate revenue of approximately A$161 million1 for Leighton Asia.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “The Candaba Viaduct is a strategic link in one of the major road networks in the Philippines. Construction of the third bridge will expand the capacity of the existing network and improve safety for motorists. We are pleased to be selected to deliver another world-class asset for the Philippines and further support economic development in the country’s north.”

Leighton Asia’s experience on major highway projects in the Philippines includes the development of several sections of the North Luzon Expressway and the Cavite section of the Cavite Laguna Expressway.
The scope includes the design and construction of an independent 5.3km bridge between the two existing lanes of the Candaba Viaduct.
